Lawrence Reads titles are here!

Lawrence Reads night is set for March 5th. Why not use some of February vacation to read one of the following titles? All are now available in our school library.

Grades K - 1: I Have to Go by Robert Munsch
Well, the title is pretty much self-explanatory, but I'll just say that the main character is in a situation that many children will relate to! Munsch has a terrific style for reading aloud with just the right amount of repetition and humor.

Grades 2 - 3: Horrid Henry by Francesca Simon
The Horrid Henry series is an import from England. This is the first in the series and it contains four short funny stories about a boy who is, well, horrid. In the first story Henry behaves perfectly in order to cause his brother, Perfect Peter, to act more like him. It works. When Henry plays with his neighbor Margaret more fun ensues.

Grades 4 - 5: The Small Adventure of Popeye and Elvis by Barbara O'Connor
Popeye lives in Fayette, South Carolina where nothing ever happens until Elvis Jewell shows up in his family's Holiday Rambler camper. Elvis and his five rowdy siblings make Popeye's life really interesting for a while, but what will happen when Elvis leaves town?

Grades 6 - 8: Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos
Jack Gantos has blended his own childhood experiences with fiction in this book. Jack has been "grounded for life" when the book begins and he's sure it's going to be the most boring summer vacation yet. When his mother signs him up to help out an elderly neighbor his summer takes a turn -- the old woman needs help typing obituaries of the residents of Norvelt. Gantos is known for his crazy sense of humor and this book doesn't disappoint. Winner of 2012 Newbery Medal!

We look forward to seeing you on March 5 for Lawrence Reads!
